  • FDA Food: The FDA Food website is the official website of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's food program. Here you will find information on food safety, regulations, and guidance documents for industry professionals.

  • European Food Safety Authority (EFSA): This is the food safety agency of the European Union. Its goal is to be an impartial source of scientific advice,  to communicate on risks associated with the food chain, and to provide the scientific input for laws and regulations.

ASSOCIATIONS IN THE FOOD INDUSTRY

When it comes to specific ingredients, there are also several associations that are valuable for formulators and purchasers. We have listed some of those for your benefit below.

  • The Flavor and Extract Manufacturers Association: This is a trade association that represents the flavor industry. Their website provides information on the latest trends in flavor development, as well as regulatory updates and safety information.

  • International Dairy Foods Association: The International Dairy Foods Association represents dairy food manufacturers, suppliers, and marketers. On their website you can find information on dairy ingredients, industry news, and updates.

KOSHER
  • The Chief Rabbinate of Israel: The Chief Rabbinate of Israel is responsible for overseeing kosher certification in Israel. Their website provides information on kosher certification requirements and procedures. BE aware that the website is only available in Hebrew.

HALAL
  • IFANCA Halal Ingredient Database: One of the main resources for halal ingredient use for formulators and manufacturers is the IFANCA Halal Ingredient Database. The Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA) maintains a comprehensive online database of halal-certified ingredients that formulators and manufacturers can use to ensure that their products are compliant with Islamic dietary laws. The database includes information on thousands of ingredients, including their halal status, halal certification agency, and any relevant notes or restrictions.
