INDUSTRY TRENDS AND STANDARDS

As a distributor of personal care ingredients, it is important to us to stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and safety standards. This way, we ensure that our recommended and distributed products meet the highest standards of quality and safety. The regulations and standards in the personal care industry are constantly evolving. On top of that, each country has its own requirements and limitations for ingredients.

STARTING POINTS FOR INFORMATION AND RESOURCES

As starting point for information and resources on changes in personal care regulations and industry news, we recommend using the ‘Personal Care Products Council’ and the ‘European Commission Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety’. Both organizations provide information on industry news, regulations, and safety assessments, as well as resources for formulators and manufacturers such as scientific opinions related to personal care products. Specifically for cosmetics there is the website ‘CosmeticsDesign.com’. This is a news and analysis website that covers the beauty and personal care industry. They produce articles and reports with valuable insights into industry trends, consumer preferences, and emerging technologies.

SAFETY ASSESSMENTS AND SCIENTIFIC OPINION

For safety assessments and scientific opinions, we recommend the ‘Cosmetic Ingredient Review’ (CIR) and the ‘International Fragrance Association’ (IFRA). They provide safety assessments and scientific opinions on cosmetic ingredients which can help make decisions regarding the safety of the ingredients used inproducts. The CIR is an independent, non-profit organization that assesses the safety of cosmetic ingredients used in the United States. The IFRA is a trade association that represents the fragrance industry worldwide.

EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES

Educational resources and networking opportunities are offered by ‘The Society of Cosmetic Chemists’, ‘Cosmetic Executive Women’, and ‘In-cosmetics Global’. They provide educational resources and networking opportunities for formulators and manufacturers of personal care products. They also follow and champion the latest trends and innovations in the industry and serve as a great connection point for other professionals in this field.

GLOBAL CERTIFICATION

An important global not-for-profit organization in the field of personal care products is the ‘Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil’. This is a global not-for-profit organization that aims to bring stakeholders from across the palm oil industry together. Their goal is to develop and implement global standards for sustainable palm oil. To this end they have created a global certification system for certified sustainable palm oil. After committing and complying with the sustainability requirements, one can become a member. This entitles them to the certificate and subsequently communicate this throughout their supply chain.
