Exfoliating ingredients help remove dead skin cells from the skin's surface. This may improve texture, unclog pores, and brighten the complexion. Physical exfoliants include materials like crystals and beads, while chemical exfoliants include alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs), and enzymes.

Soothing ingredients are used to calm and reduce inflammation in the skin. These ingredients can be particularly helpful for individuals with sensitive skin. Examples of soothing ingredients include aloe vera, chamomile, and green tea.

Surfactants are chemical compounds that reduce the surface tension between substances, allowing them to mix and interact more effectively, and are often used in detergents, soaps, and personal care items.

Environmental factors such as infrared radiation, blue light, and pollution can impact the skin negatively, leading to uneven skin tone, accelerated aging and inflammation. To protect the skin from these stressors, Skincare formulators add products such as plant extracts, niacinamide, anti-oxidants, etc.

Sun protection is crucial for maintaining healthy skin. Sunscreen ingredients can be divided in 2 groups: chemical and physical. Chemical sunscreen absorbs UV rays, while physical sunscreens (such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) reflect them.

Emulsifiers and thickeners.png

Emulsifiers help mix and stabilize ingredients, such as oil and water. They enable the uniform dispersion of oil droplets in water or water droplets in oil, ensuring a stable and consistent product.
